HUDO Centre Date: 21st June 2021 No. H.K/UA/11/021 URGENT APPEAL UPDATE (2) OF DEATHS AND CAUSALITIES OVER TRIBAL FIGHTS IN KOLOGI, SUDAN On 19th June 2021, a tribal attack happened again in Kologi between Kawahla and Dar Ali/ Hawazma yet; the security organs in Kologi were informed prior to the attack. Six people were killed from Kawahla tribe. On 19th June 2021, armed people from Dar Ali/ Hawazma tribe dressed in Popular Defense Force (PDF) and Rapid Support Force (RSF) uniforms invaded Kologi town from the eastern side. They were faced by Kawahla tribesmen and there was a fight. As a result, six Kawahla people were killed, their names are: Ibrahim Eltoum (25 years), Berair Elsheikh (40 years), Musa Khaleil Elsaharo (45 years), Hassan Elgadi (36 years) and Amir (HUDO couldn’t get his full name) and many others were injured. According to members of Kawahla tribe, the attackers emerged from Alshabaka area where the Dar Ali/ Hawazma had gathered from different areas. Also the Kawahla members informed HUDO Centre that, they got to know Dar Ali/ Hawazma’s preparation for this attack a day before and alerted/ informed both the military commandant and chief of police in Kologi on 18th June 2021. But, there was no protection mechanism or security measures put in place to safeguard unarmed civilians or prevent this attack. Currently, the situation in Kologi is worrying and many residents are moving out of the town seeking safety. Nevertheless, the road to Talodi and Aleri localities has remained close and the prices for the essential commodities are increasing more in the two localities. Note: No information from Dar Ali/ Hawazma about any causality among them. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the situation of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon:  Sudan government to urgently solve the tribal conflict and the insecurity situation in Kologi.  Sudan government to ensure the rule of law, safety of people and their properties.  Sudan government to hold to account the security committee in South Kordufan State.  Sudan government to dissolve the government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
