HUDO Centre More information Since the second week of December 2018, demonstrations have been going on in many towns of Sudan where people are demanding for their basic rights and political reform. The security forces responded with excessive use of force towards demonstrators which caused loss of lives and many have been arrested. Because of the ongoing demonstrations/riots, the president of Sudan is visiting many towns seeking public support. The security authorities have since conducted what is termed as “preventive arrests” of the youths and student in order to exclude any opposing voices. In line with that, the current arrest was conducted as Sudan government announced the president’s visit to Dilling scheduled for 28th January 2019.
