HUDO Centre Date: 8th May 2025 No: H.K/UA/05/025 URGENT APPEAL JSC ARRESTED SIX YOUTH ACTIVISTS IN KADOGLI, SUDAN On 3rd May 2025, soldiers from JSC arrested six (6) youth activists and detained them at JSC detention in Kadogli. They accused the youth of providing information to a journalist. On 4th May 2025, four (4) of the youth were released and the other two (2) were transferred to SAF garrison in Kadogli. They are currently held incommunicado which causes fear that they could be undergoing torture. On 3rd May 2025, soldiers from the Joint Security Cell (JSC) arrested six youth activists in Kadogli on charges of providing information to a journalist. They were taken to the defunct headquarters of National Congress Party (NCP) in Kadugli which is used by Joint Security Cell (JSC) as a detention Centre. Their phones were forcefully searched by the soldiers and confiscated. They were interrogated about who is providing information to the journalist (Mr. Alfadel Elsanhouri). The names of the arrested youth are: 1- Mr. Ali Yousif Ali, employee of Children Defense Fund (CDF) organization. 2- Mr. Ibrahim Abdel-Rahman Mohammed (self-employed). 3- Mr. Ahmed Faisal Al-Zaki (Kadogli emergency room). 4- Mr. Hassan Balandia (Kadogli emergency room). 5- Mr. Musa Abdalla former Red Cross volunteer and also a volunteer in Kadogli emergency room. 6. Mr. Awad Ibrahim (employee of MTN Telecommunications Company). On 4th May 2025, at 6:00 pm (Sudan local time), four of the detainees (Ali Yousif Ali, Ibrahim Abdel-Rahman Mohammed, Ahmed Faisal Al-Zaki and Awad Ibrahim) were released and their confiscated phones were not returned back to them. The other two (Hassan Balandia and Mr. Musa Abdalla) were transferred to the 14th Division Command in Kadogli on the same day and detained there. There is no information about them and their families and lawyers were not allowed to visit them. This raised concerns that they could be subjected to torture. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following:  The JSC in Kadogli to immediately and unconditionally release the two youths or take them to the courts of law  The JSC to release the confiscated smart phones.  The head of the security committee in South Kordufan State (the governor) to investigate the circumstances behind this arrest and make the findings public.  The JSC to stop targeting and arresting civilians.
