HUDO Centre Date: 18th August 2025 No: H.K/PS/30/025 UPDATE (2) ON JSC ARRESTED SIX YOUTH ACTIVISTS IN KADOGLI, SUDAN On 17th June 2025, the JSC released the two remaining youths from detention. They were released on condition that they should report daily to JSC office and stop participating in the activities of civil society organizations. On 3rd May 2025, soldiers from the Joint Security Cell (JSC) arrested six (6) youth activists in Kadogli on charges of providing information to a journalist. They were taken to the defunct headquarters of National Congress Party (NCP) in Kadogli which is used by Joint Security Cell (JSC) as a detention Centre. Their phones were forcefully searched by the soldiers and confiscated. They were interrogated about who is providing information to the journalist (Mr. Alfadel Elsanhouri). The names of the arrested youth are: Mr. Ali Yousif Ali, Mr. Ibrahim Abdel-Rahman Mohammed, Mr. Ahmed Faisal Al-Zaki, Mr. Hassan Balandia, Mr. Musa Abdalla and Mr. Awad Ibrahim. On 4th May 2025, at 6:00 pm (Sudan local time), four (4) of the detainees (Ali Yousif Ali, Ibrahim AbdelRahman Mohammed, Ahmed Faisal Al-Zaki and Awad Ibrahim) were released but their confiscated phones were not returned to them. On 17th June 2025, Mr. Hassan Balandia and Mr. Musa Abdalla were released on condition that they should be reporting to the JSC office on a daily basis. They complied with the conditions and reported for two weeks. Thereafter, JSC set them free with a condition to stop participating in any activities within the civil society organizations. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following:  The JSC in Kadogli to stop arresting, intimidating and harassing the youth.  The JSC to release the confiscated smart phones.  The head of the security committee in South Kordufan State (the governor) to investigate the circumstances that led to these arrests and make the findings public.  The JSC to respect the rights of civilians.
