Date: 23rd January 2019 No. H.K/UA/04/019 URGENT ACTION FORCED DISAPPEARANCE OF AHMED FROM OMDURMAN, SUDAN On 20thJanuary2019, Mr. Ahmed Abdalla Omer was abducted by six armed people from Alarbaein Street in Omdurman. The abductors had a vehicle without number plates and they took him to unknown place. This happened when a demonstration was going on. Mr. Ahmed Abdalla Omer (known by his nickname Ombadi), is a 46 years old agricultural engineer and political activist. On 20th January 2019 during the demonstration at Alarbaein Street in Omdurman, a group of six armed persons dressed in civilian clothes came to the street on vehicle (Toyota Hillux) that had no number plate. On arrival, three of them surrounded Mr. Ahmed and started beating him with hose/tube till he fell down. Then they carried him, throw him on the vehicle and drove away. On 22nd January 2019, his family went to NISS office and inquired about him (Ombadi) but they were told that he is not with them and they don’t know about him. HUDO is very concerned about the situation of civilians during this current condition of demonstrations and calls upon;  Sudan government to disclose the whereabouts of Mr. Ahmed Abdalla Omer (Ombadi) and to allow family and lawyers to visit him.  Sudan government to immediately release him unconditionally or to present him before courts of law if there is a genuine case against him.  Sudan government to immediately conduct genuine investigations about the case of Mr. Ahmed’s disappearance and to make the findings public.  Sudan government to hold to account those who are responsible for ill-treatment of Ahmed and his disappearance. 1
