HUDO Centre Date: 4th February 2019 No.: H.K/PR/09/019 UPDATE ON FORCED DISAPPEARANCE OF AHMED FROM OMDURMAN, SUDAN On 29th January 2019, Mr. Ahmed Abdalla Omer (Ombadi) was conditionally released by NISS in Khartoum state. He was held incommunicado for more than a week. On 20th January 2019, a group of six armed persons dressed in civilian clothes came on (Toyota Hillux) without number plates and abducted Mr. Ahmed during the demonstration at Alarbaein Street in Omdurman. National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) denied arresting him when his family inquired about him on 22nd January 2019 at NISS office (H.K/UA/04/019). On 29th January 2019, he was released by NISS after writing a pledge not to participate in any demonstrations. The release was a result of a presidential announcement (on the same day) of releasing all the detainees yet, many others are still under detention and arrests are still going on. Mr. Ahmed Abdalla Omer (known by his nickname Ombadi), is a 46 years old agricultural engineer and political activist. HUDO is very concerned about the situation of civilians during this current condition of demonstrations and calls upon;  Sudan government to immediately release all detainees unconditionally and to respect their rights of assembling and expression.  Sudan government to respect its international obligations towards human rights.  Sudan government to give respect for Sudan constitution.  Sudan president to respect and honor his word/pledges.
