HUDO Centre Date: 10thJanuary 2022 No.: H.K/PS/02/022 PRESS STATEMENT ARMED MEN KILLED A FARMER AND INJURED ANOTHER NEAR ABU-JIBAIHA, SUDAN On 26th December 2021, five armed men attacked two farmers in their farm near Abu-Jibaiha, shot and killed one and injured the other. The case was reported against anonymous at AbuJibaiha police but the police did not investigate further. On 26th December 2021, Mr. Mohammed Musa Kalfred and Mr. Edriss Ali Musa were attacked by five armed men at their farm east Abu-Jibaiha town. The armed assailants shot on the head and killed Mr. Mohammed Musa Kalfred while Mr. Edriss Ali Musa survived with gunshot injuries on the head and he is under medical treatment at Abu-Jibaiha hospital. The family members of the victims filed the case at Abu-Jibaiha police against anonymous but no further investigation was carried out by police Mr. Mohammed Musa Kalfred was 30 years old. Mr. Edriss Ali Musa is 42 years old. Abu-Jibaiha is the capital of Abu-Jibaiha locality in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. The farm (crime scene) is about 7 km east Abu-Jibaiha town. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;  Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case.  The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.  The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the safety of civilians.
