HUDO Centre Date: 9th May 2025 No.: H.K/PS/15/025 UPDATE (2) ON THE ARRESTED COMMUNITY LEADERS AND ACTIVISTS BY GIS AND SAF IN AL-ABBASIYA, SUDAN On 16th April 2025, the remaining community leaders and activists were released from SAF detention in Abu-Jibaiha. They were released in a bad health condition. On 11th November 2024, a group of soldiers from General Intelligence Service (GIS) and Sudan Armed Force (SAF) came on three (3) vehicles in Al-Abbasiya and arrested twelve (12) community leaders and activists from their homes. They detained them at the GIS cells for one (1) night and the next day (12th November 2024) they transferred them to SAF military barracks in Al-Abbasiya. Then on 13th November 2024, the twelve (12) detainees were all transported under heavy security (guards) to AbuJibaiha military garrison. They were held incommunicado up to their release. On 12th March 2025, three of the detainees were released unconditionally. Their names are: Mr. Mohammed Abdalla Abaru, Mr. Tawheed Eltahir Eisa Jundi and Dr. Adam Khaleifa. On 16th April 2025, the remaining detainees were released in bad health situation (physically and psychologically). Their names are: Omdda/ Mahmoud Edriss Elzaibaq, Nasreldin Abubaker Elmansour, Musa Eltahir Eisa Jundi, Mahmoud Ahmed Almansour, Mohammed Mahmoud Sawar, Rahama Eltahir Rahama, Abdelaziz Ahmed Adam, Hassan Ahmed Yousif and Mohammed Hashim Noureldaeem. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following:  The head of the security committee in South Kordufan State (the governor) to investigate the circumstance behind this arrest and make the findings public.  The SAF and GIS to stop targeting and arresting civilians.  Sudan government to respect the constitutional rights of citizens.
