Date: 24thMay 2021 No. H.K/PS/32/021 PRESS STATEMENT ARMED ROBBERS SHOT AND INJURED A PASSENGER NEAR KOLOGI, SUDAN On 9th May 2021, eight armed PDF soldiers riding motorbikes robbed fourteen (14) travelers on a commercial vehicle near Kologi town. They also shot and injured one passenger. This case was reported to Kologi police office but there was no action taken. On 9th May 2021, eight (8) armed people dressed in Peoples Defense Forces (PDF) uniform riding four (4) motorbikes obstructed the traveling vehicle along the road from Aleri to Abu-Jibaiha. This incident happened at a point near Kologi town. They shot and injured one passenger (Mr. Abakar Hassan Nimir, 43 years old) on his abdomen and robbed the other fourteen (14) passengers of their money and smart phones. The injured person (Mr. Abakar) was taken to Kologi hospital and then after transported by his family to Kosti hospital for further treatment. This case was filed by the victim travelers at Kologi police but, no action was taken up to date. Aleri, Kologi and Abu-Jibaiha are towns located in the eastern region of South Kordufan State/Nuba Mountains. Kalogi is between the other two towns. Kosti town is a town connected to the eastern region of South Kordufan and it’s in White Nile State. HUDO is very concerned about the situation of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;  Sudan government to urgently investigate and hold to account police in SK for not executing their duties.  Sudan government to urgently solve the issue of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains.  Sudan government to ensure the safety and security of people in conflict areas.  Sudan government to dissolve militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
