HUDO Centre Date: 2nd June 2023 No. H.K/PS/19/023 UPDATE ON THE ARREST OF MR. AHMED FADUL BY SAF IN ALERI GHAREB, SUDAN On 18th May 2023, Mr. Ahmed Fadul was released from detention by Sudan Armed Force (SAF) soldiers in Aleri Ghareb/ West. SAF had detained him (Mr. Ahmed) incommunicado for two weeks. On 18th May 2023, Mr. Ahmed Fadul Fadelalla was released by Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in Aleri Ghareib/ West after detaining (holding) him for two weeks incommunicado. Before his release, Mr. Ahmed was warned not to talk about SAF negatively. Mr. Ahmed Fadul Fadelalla was arrested on 4th May 2023 by Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) from his house in Aleri Ghareb. He was arrested shortly after a casual discussion he had with one of the SAF soldiers in which he expressed his opinion concerning the ongoing war (between SAF and RSF).During his friendly discussion with the SAF soldier, he said that "the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) soldiers were taking an upper hand against Sudan Armed Forces". Thereafter, he was arrested. He spent two weeks in detention and was denied visits from family members or lawyers. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan within this terrible period and calls upon:  The commandant of SAF in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to investigate the circumstances around Mr. Fadul’s arrest by SAF in Aleri Ghareib and to make the findings public.  The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to stop the arbitrary arrest of civilians.
