HUDO Centre Date: 26th March 2025 No.: H.K/PS/12/025 UPDATE (2) ON THE JSC ARRESTED MR. JAMAL IN DAMAZIN, SUDAN On 6th March 2025, the Joint Security Cell released Mr. Jamal-Eldin from their detention. The reason for his arrest was about an article written by his cousin which was criticizing the administrators at the governor’s office. On 19th January 2025, the Joint Security Cell (JSC) soldiers based in Damazin arrested Mr. JamalEldin Mohammed Ali Ibrahim (commonly known as Jamal Wad Elradya). They arrested him from his house without giving a reason. Since then up to his release, they had been holding him incommunicado at JSC custody at Roseries dam building in Damazin town. The reason of his arrest was an article written by his cousin/brother Mr. Safwan. The article was accusing the administrators at governor’s office of being involved in corruption. Mr. Jamal-Eldin was contacted by the staff from governor’s office ordering him to talk to his cousin and to stop him from writing about such allegations. Mr. Jamal told (responded to) them that, he has no authority over his cousin and what he writes. Two days after the warning from Governor’s office, Mr. Jamal was arrested with no justifiable reason. On 6th March 2025, The JSC unconditionally released Mr. Jamal. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following:  Blue Nile State governor to stop the misconduct of his staff (administrators).  The security committee in Blue Nile State to investigate the circumstances that led to the arrest of Mr. Jamal-Eldin and make the findings public.  The JSC to stop the arrest of civilians.
