Date: 8th December 2020 No. H.K/PS/46/020 PRESS STATEMENT SHOOTING AT TRAVELLERS ALONG THE ROAD NEAR ABU-JIBAIHA, SUDAN On 3rd December 2020, unknown people shot live bullets/ ammunition at a moving commercial truck at Dar-Elsalaam Alkush village in Nuba Mountains but the driver did not stop. The case was reported at Abu-Jibaiha police but police did not respond. On 3rd December 2020 (early morning hours), a commercial truck with passengers and goods was traveling from Abu-Jibaiha town to Um-Rawaba town. When the truck reached at a point near DarElsalaam Alkush village, unknown people shot live bullets/ ammunition at them but the driver did not stop. There were no injuries among the passengers. The case was reported at Abu-Jibaiha police against anonymous but police did not respond. One of Abu-Jibaiha residents informed HUDO Centre that, currently people in Abu-Jibaiha fear travelling by that road preferring to use other long and rough roads. Abu-Jibaiha town is a capital of Abu-Jibaiha locality in Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State and it’s the only exit of Talodi, Kalogi and Aleri localities connecting them to other parts of Sudan. UmRawaba is a town in North Kordufan State well commercially and socially connected to the eastern region of Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State. Dar-Elsalaam Alkush is a village in Abu-Jibaiha locality that one of the roads from Abu-Jibaiha to Um-Rawaba pass by it. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the situation of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon:  Sudan government to urgently investigate and solve the state of insecurity in Nuba Mountains.  Sudan government to ensure that people are protected in exercising their constitutional rights.  Sudan government to hold to account police in Abu-Jibaiha for not executing their duties.
