HUDO Centre Date: 15th December 2023 No. H.K/PS/42/023 PRESS STATEMENT RSF KILLED, LOOTED, BURNT HOUSES AND DISPLACED THE RESIDENTS OF ALJIBAILAT VILLAGE, SUDAN On 1st December 2023, RSF soldiers attacked Aljibailat village, killed three people, burnt houses, looted property of the residents and displaced many people to the SPLA-N controlled area. On 1st December 2023 at around 04:00 AM (Sudan time), Rapid Support Force (RSF) soldiers equipped with machine guns and riding on motorcycles attacked Aljibailat village. They killed three people who were on the way to the mosque for the morning prayers (before sunrise). The assassinated people are; 1. Mr. Mohammed Issa known by the nickname Alfaki (73 years). He was the religious leader (Imam) of the village mosque. 2. Mr. Abdalla Osman (65 years) 3. Mrs. Zahara Ibrahim Ramadan (72 years) The attackers also set on fire (burnt down) three houses and looted properties from other houses as people fled. The burnt houses belonged to Mr. Adam Abdo-alwahid, Mr. Babiker Abdalla and Mr. Abdoalrahman). As a result of this attack, many residents of Aljibailat village were forced into displacement to Abu-Alhassan village which is located in the territory controlled by the SPLA/M-N. One of the community leaders from Aljibailat talked to HUDO Centre saying that; “the RSF attackers were of Hawazma tribe and they had gathered from different areas. Over and over again, we were warned about this attack and we got information about their preparations (for the planned attack) which helped us to arrange for evacuation on time”. Aljibailat village is located in Abu-Kershola locality of South Kordofan State/ Nuba Mountains. The village is 20 km south of Abu-Kershola town and it’s inhabited by Tagoe tribe/ Nuba. Abu-Alhassan is about 5 km east of Aljibailat village and within SPLA-N territory. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas during the conflict between SAF and RSF. We call upon the security committee in South Kordofan State\Nuba Mountains to investigate this incident, protect the civilians and to put measures to stop the insecurity and tribal conflicts.
