HUDO Centre Date: 7th September2020 No.: H.K/PS/35/020 PRESS STATEMENT TWO CIVILIANS MURDERED AND ONE INJURED IN KALOGI LOCALITY, SUDAN On 4th September 2020, Mr. Emam Hamad and Mr. Elfateh Ismail were shot dead and Mr. Mohammed Abdueljaleil was seriously injured by unknown people. The incident happened when the victims were traveling from Tusi to Gardoud Toro. This case was reported at Kalogi police against anonymous. On 4th September 2020, Mr Emam, Mr. Elfateh and Mr. Mohammed were traveling together using two motorbikes from Tusi to Gardood Toro in South Kordufan. At a certain point in Gardood Um-Safra, armed men obstructed their way, shot at them and disappeared. Mr. Emam Hamad and Mr.Elfateh Ismail died instantly since they were shot on the head and chest. But Mr. Mohammed Abdueljaleil who was shot on the legs sustained serious injuries. The injured person and the dead bodies were picked and taken to Tusi by other travelers who found them by the road. The dead were buried in Tusi by their relatives and the injured person was transferred to Abu-Jibaiha for medical treatment. This murder case was reported to Kalogi police office. Mr. Emam Hamad Abdalla (39 years old), Elfateh Ismail Elneima (24 years old) and Mr. Mohammed Abdueljaleil Hamad (30 years) were farmers and residents of Tusi. Tusi is a village in Kalogi locality of Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State and it is about 20 km west Kalogi town. Gardood Toro is about 15 km south Tusi and it is an area of gold mining. Gardood Um-Safra is between Tusi and Gardood Toro. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and civilians’ safety in conflict areas and calls upon;  Sudan government at state and central level to immediately investigate this case.  Sudan government to address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains.  Sudan government to ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed  Sudan government to disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
