Date: 25th November 2019 No. H.K/PR/36/019 PRESS STATEMENT THE STATE OF INSECURITY CAUSED BY PDF IN HABILLA, SUDAN On 17th November 2019, the PDF caused insecurity in Habilla, Nuba Mountains. They assaulted people, looted shops and burnt some houses. All this was done as the security forces of the area watched. Likely the incident was a react to Sudan Armed Forces’ (SAF) act. On 17th November 2019 daytime, about forty five (45) armed men in PDF uniform were/came attacked and looted the shop of Mr. Abduelrahman Ibrahim Joumey at Habilla Market. They put Mr. Abduelrahman on gunpoint, took the available money and some goods from him and then moved away. He reported/filed a case against them but no action or investigation was done by police yet the attackers are much known and he named them. On the same that day evening, the same attackers went to Mr. Bashir Elzain’s home and burnt/scorched three (3) houses. They burnt Mr.Bashir’s house together with that of his brother and his sister. A reliable source from Habilla informed HUDO that, the same day early morning, three PDF soldiers had attacked Mr. Elzain farms (9 km southeast Habilla) where they physically assaulted the guard. While they were there, they were confronted by a group of military personnel that were unexpectedly passing by the scene. The confrontation resulted in the injuring of the three PDF soldiers. Due to that morning incident, the relatives of the injured PDF soldiers gathered and caused insecurity as a react.
