2.3.12 Farmer robbed by armed people near Umbrembeta On 21st April 2022, Mr. Mutasim Mukhtar Mohammed (45 years old) a farmer together with his assistant were driving the farm tractor from El-Rahad to Umbrembeta. They were stopped by the assailants at Malbak seasonal river (approximately 17 km north Umbrembeta). The assailants were four armed and masked men. They robbed them of their two smart phones and money (860000 SDG = about $1600 USD). Thereafter, the thieves/ assailants disappeared. The two victims of robbery continued their journey up to Umbrembeta where they reported the case to police but, police did not respond. 2.3.13 Public demonstration (sit-in) in Elfaid Um-Abdalla Elfaid Um-Abdalla Sit-in From 10th May 2022, the residents of Elfaid Um-Abdalla conducted a sit-in demonstration at Elhurriya square (the town’s main yard). The residents demonstrated because of insecurity whereby many people have been killed 17 by armed people yet the police do not investigate or arrest the perpetrators. The residents/ demonstrators expressed that some of the perpetrators are known but the authorities and police do not apprehend them. 17 Among them a pregnant female by name of Sara 22
