HUDO Centre The Anti-Terror Act (2001): Article 10 A lawyer from Damazin spoke to HUDO Centre, stating that: these trials were evidently politically motivated. Due to this and the security threats imposed by the JSC and the nature of the proceedings, which resembled show or kangaroo trials, many activist lawyers refrained from involvement. On average, these trials lasted only about three sessions. Damazin is the capital city of Blue Nile State. Most of the victims are young men (aged 20–45) and IDPs who fled their villages and towns seeking refuge in Damazin town. HUDO Centre is deeply concerned about the safety and security of civilians in Sudan during this challenging period of conflict between SAF and RSF. Therefore, we call for the following actions:  The security committee in Blue Nile State must halt swift trials and the targeting of IDPs.  The JSC must stop the misuse of power and authority.  The judiciary system in Sudan to revise the verdicts and respect the rights of civilian having fair trials.  The judicial system in Blue Nile State must remain independent and avoid being influenced by security and political entities.
