HUDO Centre Date: 4th January 2021 No. H.K/UA/01/021 URGENT APPEAL RESIDENTS RIOTED BECAUSE OF INSECURITY IN KADOGLI, SUDAN People in Kadogli organized a public demonstration protesting the state of insecurity. This was because of the worsening security status especially in form of murder and robbery incidents towards the end of year 2020. Police office did not do much to arrest the anonymous perpetrators. On the night of 17th December 2020, Mr. Mohammed Ali Mohammed Eldai was shot and killed at his house in Alkooz neighbourhood in Kadogli. On the same night, Mr. Ahmed Gabir at his house in Eldaraga Althaltha neighbourhood was robbed of his belongings and got a gunshot injury in his right leg by masked people. On 18th December 2020 morning hours, Ms. S.S at Elsouq neighbourhood was robbed of her smart phone and money (equivalent to $100) at gunpoint by unknown people. On 24th December 2020 night, Mr. Senein Sabun Marra was shot and killed by four armed people at his house in Eldaraga Althaltha neighbourhood. All cases were filed at police against anonymous and no serious steps had been taken to apprehend the perpetrators. For this reason, on 27 December 2020 Kadogli’s residents organized a demonstration march and delivered their message to the state government condemning the state of insecurity and demanded safety (security). HUDO is very concerned about the situation of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon:  Sudan government to address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains.  Sudan government to ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed  Sudan government to dissolve the government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.  Sudan government to respect the constitutional rights of citizens  Sudan government to respect its international obligations.
