HUDO Centre Date: 9th May 2019 No. H.K/UA/15/019 URGENT ACTION MURDER AND INJURING OF CIVILIANS BY RSF AT ALTUGULA GOLD MINE IN TALODI, SUDAN On 3rd May 2019, for unknown reasons, RSF soldiers randomly shot bullets while at Altugula gold mine market. As a result, one person died and four others were injured. No investigations have been carried out. The dead person is Mr. Abakar Osman Abakar and the injured people are Abduelraouf Eltoum, Hassan Maki, Hassan Ismail and Saeed Abduelmoneim. All of them are workers at Altugula gold mine and they are from Abu-Jebaiha area. Altugula is a gold mine at Talodi of South Kordufan State. On 3rd May 2019, for unknown reasons a group of Rapid Support Force (RSF) soldiers came to Altugula goldmine market and started firing (shooting) randomly. As a result, five people sustained injuries. After the shooting, a civilian went and asked the RSF commandant for a vehicle to transport the injured people but he refused. People hired vehicles to transport the injured to AbuJebaiha because there was no medical doctor in Talodi hospital. While they were on the way to Abu-Jebaiha (which is more than 100 kilometers), one of the injured people died. No investigations have been held yet. HUDO was informed by one of the eyewitnesses that, the attack by RSF was deliberate and that they have been intimidating and harassing people always to force them evacuate the goldmine. HUDO is very concerned about the lives of civilian in conflict areas and the acts of RSF soldiers. HUDO calls upon;  Police in South Kordufan State to carry out genuine investigations, to apprehend and present the suspects (RSF soldiers) before courts of law.  The lawyers’ association, to give the needed legal support for the case and victims.  Sudanese and international civil society to focus more on conflict areas.
