Date: 16th February 2021 No. H.K/PS/09/021 PRESS STATEMENT ARMED PEOPLE SHOT AND INJURED MR. MAROUF IN KADOGLI, SUDAN On 31st January 2021, Mr. Marouf Adam Ahmed was shot and injured by three armed people at his house in Kadogli town. The assailants also took away three smart phones. The case was filed at police office against anonymous but no further investigation was done. On 31stJanuary 2021(around 02:00 AM Sudan local time), three armed people dressed in civilian clothes with face masks broke into Mr. Marouf’s family house and shot him, which caused a fracture in Mr. Marouf’s right leg. Also they have looted three smart phones. Marouf family house is located at Aldaraga Ehthaltha suburb in Kadogli town. He was rescued by his family members who took him to Kadogli hospital for first aid and thereafter transferred him to Elobeid hospital for further treatment. Mr. Marouf’s family members reported the case at Kadogli police against anonymous but there was no further investigations carried out up to date. Mr. Marouf Adam Ahmed (24 years old) is self-employed. Kadogli is the capital city of Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State. Elobeid town is the capital of North Kordufan State in a distant of almost 300 km from Kadogli town. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the situation of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon:  Sudan government at state and central level to immediately investigate this case.  Sudan government to address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains.  Sudan government to ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed.  Sudan government should question SK police for default in action.  Sudan government to dissolve militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
