HUDO Centre Date: 2nd June 2025 No.: H.K/UA/08/025 URGENT APPEAL THE JSC ARRESTED DR. HASSAN HAMZA IN ROSERIES, SUDAN On 1st June 2025, the Joint Security Cell (JSC) arrested Dr. Hassan Hamza and took him to their office. They did not give a reason for the arrest and since then, he has been kept incommunicado. This raised the fear for his life. On 29th May 2025, Dr. Hassan Hamza Esmail Ali returned from exile to his home town of Roseries. He had run to exile in Ethiopia since the war broke out in Sudan. On 1st June 2025, the Joint Security Cell (JSC) soldiers in Roseries arrested Dr. Hassan from his house in Roseries without giving a reason. Since then, they have been holding him incommunicado in unknown place. This has raised fear for his life since he is suffering from diabetes and needs medical care as well as his daily medicine. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following:  The JSC in Blue Nile State to immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Hassan Hamza or send him to the courts of law.  The security committee in Blue Nile State to investigate the circumstances that led to the arrest of Dr. Hassan Hamza and make the report public.  The JSC to stop arresting civilians arbitrarily.
