HUDO Centre Date: 7th January 2025 No.: H.K/PS/02/025 PRESS STATEMENT (For Immediate Release) UNKNOWN ARMED PERSON SHOT AND INJURED MR. HASHIM NEAR AMBEIR, SUDAN On 12th December 2024, Mr. Hashim was shot and injured in the right arm by unidentified armed person along the road between Ambeir village and Umbrembeta. The incident was reported at Umbrembeta police, but the police did not take action. On 12th December 2024, Mr. Hashim Ismail Hammad (35 years old) was travelling on a motorbike from Umbrembeta (after he had attended its weekly market) to Ambeir village. Along the way near Ambeir village at Khor Al-Nabaq, unknown armed person (with gun) shot and injured him in the right arm. Mr. Hashim did not stop the motorbike until he reached Ambeir village with injuries. He was immediately taken to Abu-Jibaiha for treatment and later to Kosti where he underwent surgery on 17th December 2024. His relatives reported the case to Umbrembeta police, but the police did not conduct investigation. Mr. Hashim Ismail Hammad (35 years old) is from Masaleet tribe. Umbrembeta town and Amber village are in Abu-Kershola locality in South Kordofan State/Nuba Mountains in a distance of about 40 km between them. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following;  The Sudanese Armed Forces in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to implement security measures for protecting the civilians.  The police in Umbrembeta to conduct their duties responsibly and investigate this case.  The prosecutor in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.
