HUDO Centre 30th April 2018 Update (18) COURT TRIAL OF AL-SANADRA CASE The court session was held on 25th April 2018 at Khartoum North court before Justice/ Abdeen Hamid Dhahi. Apart from the prosecutor, all parties were present. The session was intended to be for hearing of testimonies from some defending witnesses but, the escape of one of the defendants interrupted the process. The court session was adjourned to 3rd May 2018. Summary of the court session On 25th April 2018, the session started at 11:00 AM (Sudan local time) at Khartoum North court before Justice/ Abdeen Hamid Dhahi. It was attended by all parties apart from the prosecutor. At the opening of the session, Mr.Tariq Mohammed (a sergeant from SAF) who was heading the defendants’ guard group informed court that, the sixth (6th) defendant/ Bardab Mohammed Abakar had escaped from the military prison on 21st April 2018. The judge rejected the sergeant information because it was not official or a written report from the prison authority. Then the judge adjourned the court session to 3 rd May 2018 in order to receive an official document from the military prison authority regarding the prisoner’s escape. Observation Notes  This is the second time defendants escaping from the military detention.  The defendants’ panel requested that the court session should continue basing on the verbal announcements about the escape.
