HUDO Centre Date: 17th January 2019 No. H.K/PR/06/019 UPDATE ON ARREST OF YOUTH BY NISS IN DAMAZIN, SUDAN On 13th January 2019, National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) in Damazin released the youth who were arrested on 11th January 2019. They were released on condition that they should report to NISS office in Damazin daily. The names of the mentioned youths are given below; Mr. Huzaifa Ahmed, 26 years old; Mr. Abduelmoneim Mohammed Elmamoun, 27 years; Mr. Abdalla Elmasri, 25 years; Mr. Mutwakil Nabil, 23 years; Mr. Osman Abass, 27 years and Mr. Elnagei Magdi, 21 years. They were arrested on 11th January 2019 immediately after Jumaa prayers by National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) in Damazin at Almuleid square. They were taken to NISS custody where they spent two nights and were treated in a degrading manner. They were released with conditions of reporting daily to NISS office. From the time of their release, they have been reporting to NISS office by 09:00 AM and held there up to 03:00 PM and then told to come back the next day. HUDO is very concerned about the situation of students/ youth during this current situation of demonstrations. HUDO calls upon:  Sudan government to stop targeting students/ youth.  Sudan government to respect its international obligations towards their citizens.  NISS in Damazin to stop intimidating the released youths by keeping them captives of daily reporting.
