HUDO Centre Date: 25thAugust 2021 No.: H.K/PS/53/021 UPDATE ON THE ARMED ROBBERY INCIDENT AT ELHEGAIRAT IN KADOGLI, SUDAN On 22ndAugust 2021, one of the people (Mr. Badreldin Yahya Kuku) that were injured in a robbery incident at Elhegairat died due to injury complications. It is on record that Kadogli police did not investigate this robbery incident/ case. On 18th August 2021, a vehicle with passengers traveling from Kadogli town to Elhegairat gold mine was obstructed by four armed and masked people. These armed people fired/ shot bullets to passengers, killed one immediately and seriously injured other five. On 22ndAugust 2021, one of the injured passengers (Mr. BadreldinYahya Kuku) died at hospital in Khartoum as a consequence of bullet injuries. No effort has been made by police to apprehend the assailants. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon Sudan government to;  Address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains.  Ensure the rule of law, police and other security organs execute their duties.  Ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed  Dissolve government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
