HUDO Centre Date: 24th July 2023 No.: H.K/PS/24/023 ‫‏‬ UPDATE (2) ON SAF ARRESTED MR. MOHAMMED IBRAHIM IN ABU-JIBAIHA, SUDAN On 19th July 2023, Mr. Mohammed Abduelkarim Ibrahim was arrested again by Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in Abu-Jibaiha. He was detained during his daily reporting routine at the SAF military-base. He was detained because he demands to get back all his money which was confiscated. He has been kept incommunicado. On 19th July 2023, Mr. Mohammed Abduelkarim Ibrahim appeared at SAF military-base in AbuJibaiha in fulfillment of his release condition (daily report routine) that was imposed on him on 11th July 2023 when he was released. When he appeared this time, SAF soldiers gave him back his items (carton of cigarettes and money) that were earlier confiscated from him. However, the amount of money (cash) was less by 100000 SDG compared to what was confiscated (800000 SDG = 1600 $) from him. When he asked about the rest of the money, SAF soldiers detained him. Since then Mr. Mohammed has been denied visits from family or lawyer’s. Mr. Mohammed Abduelkarim Ibrahim was first arrested on 25th June 2023 by four (4) SAF soldiers at Jabel-Elomda check point and confiscated his goods (cigarettes) and money. At the time of his arrest, Mr. Mohammad was on a commercial vehicle coming from Tembaira village after attending the weekly market. The soldiers forcefully took him on their vehicle up to Abu-Jibaiha military base. They accused him of belonging to Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army-North (SPLM/A-N). On 11th July 2023, Mr. Mohammed was released under certain conditions. SAF forced him to sign a pledge form declaring that he will not leave the town of Abu-Jibaiha and must report to the military base on a daily basis. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of the civilians in Sudan during this difficult time of fighting between SAF and RSF. HUDO Centre also calls for the following;  The Sudan Armed Forces in Abu- Jibaiha to immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Mohammed Abduelkarim Ibrahim and release the confiscated goods and money in complete.  The commander of SAF in South Kordufan State to investigate the circumstances under which Mr. / Mohammed Abduelkarim was re-arrested.  Sudan Armed Forces to stop arresting civilians arbitrarily End:For more information please write to hudo2009@gmail.com
