HUDO Centre Date: 18th August 2023 No.: H.K/UA/11/023 URGENT APPEAL INHUMAN DETENTION OF SAF IN ABU-JIBAIHA, SUDAN Since the broke out of the war between SAF and RSF, SAF in Abu-Jibaiha used to arrest and detain the detainees in very inhuman cells with bad detention condition and they were subject to continuous torture. The fight between Sudan Armed Force (SAF) and Rapid Support Force (RSF) has triggered mass campaign against civilians in South Kordufan State especially after the series of attacks made by Sudan People Liberation Army – North (SPLA-N) to Dilling and Kadogli towns. The rate of the arrest is higher in the eastern region of the state which made Abu-Jibaiha military base detention is more crowded as it the higher and bigger military base within the eastern region and many other military bases used to refer the detainees to it. The detention is consisting of a room (3X4 metres) without windows that accommodate more than twenty detainees together with war prisoners. All detainees and prisoners sleep on the flour, two meals per day consist of porridge/ much with beans, very limited drinking water in which shower is not allowed. For instance; by 31st August 2023, there was twenty three (23) detainees in this detention, some of them are: 1. Mr. Omer Jamea, he was arrested in Kologi, arrived Abu-Jibaiha by 26th August 2023. 2. Mr. Yassir Elamein Kodi, was arrested in Khor-Eldeleib, arrived Abu-Jibaiha by26th August 2023. 3. Mr. Elsadiq Ali Elnaw, arrested by 31st August 2023, he has spent 52 days in Abu-Jibaiha detention, during this period, his right leg was amputated at the military hospital. 4. Mr. Elhadi Manga, was arrested in Abu-Jibaiha on 28th August 2023 and released on 31st August 2023. 5. Mr. Mowafag Subahi, was arrested in Talodi on 24th June 2023, deported to Abu-Jibaiha by 14th July 2023 and released by 31st August 2023.
