HUDO Centre Date: 4th October 2021 No.: H.K/PS/55/021 PRESS STATEMENT FARMER SHOT DEAD BY UNKNOWN PEOPLE IN LAGAWA, SUDAN On 23rdSeptember 2021, Mr. Ibrahim Elnour Hamad was found dead with gunshot wounds at his farm in Lagawa. The killers are not known. The murder case was reported against anonymous at Lagawa police but, the police did not act or respond. On 23rdSeptember 2021, Mr. Ibrahim Elnour Hamad went to his farm which is near the town (Lagawa) military base. That day, he did not come back to his house/ home by evening hours as usual. The family members and neighbours went to the farm in search of his whereabouts. They found him dead with gunshot wounds (one bullet on his head and three others on his chest). They took the dead body to the hospital for postmortem and buried afterwards. The family members reported the murder case at Lagawa police against anonymous. But, no investigation was carried out. Mr. Ibrahim Elnour Hamad (40 years) was a farmer and a resident of Lagawa town. His farm is about 500 metres east of Lagawa military base in Lagawa town. Lagawa is a town in Nuba Mountains within West Kordufan State. HUDOCentre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;  Sudan government to urgently address the causes of insecurity in Nuba Mountains.  Sudan government to ensure that police executes their duties responsibly by observing the rule of law.  Sudan government to dissolve the government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.  Sudan government to respect its international obligations.
