HUDO Centre Date: 5th December 2023 No. H.K/PS/39/023 PRESS STATEMENT (For Immediate Release) SHOOTING OF TWO BROTHERS IN DILLING, SUDAN On 22nd November 2023, two brothers were shot at by unidentified person for unknown reasons in Dilling. As a result, one victim died (Mr. Mohammad Hassan) and the other was injured (Mr. Nayel Hassan). The case was reported at Dilling police, but the police did not respond. On 22nd November 2023, unidentified person shot at Mohammed and Nayil Hassan Munefi (the victims are brothers). The two brothers were shot at while leaving the mosque after performed evening prayers in the Feraish neighborhood of Dilling town. As a result of this shooting, Mr. Mohammed Hassan died instantly and Mr. Nayel Hassan got injured in the back, and the perpetrator managed to escape. The well-wishers transferred the injured person to Dilling Hospital and later by his family to El Obeid for medical care. The case was reported anonymously at Dilling Police. But the police did not move to investigate. Mr. Mohammed Hassan Munefi (38 years old) was an employee at Dilling University and Mr. Nayel Hassan Munefi (42 years old) is a jeweller, both from Hawazma tribe/ Arab. The Feraish neighborhood is located at the western part of Dilling town/ the capital of Dilling locality in South Kordofan State/ Nuba Mountains. El Obeid is the capital of North Kordufan State and at a distant of 160 km from Dilling town. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas during this period of the conflict between SAF and RSF and calls upon;  Police in South Kordofan State\Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and immediately investigate this case.  The prosecutor in South Kordofan State\Nuba Mountains to make sure that there is rule of law.  The security committee in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountain to respond immediately to the ongoing insecurity incidents.
