Only three detainees were freed in this month Miscellaneous: • 6th and 7th of May witness the first hearing of Blue Nile detainees cases in Sinja city - Sinar State, however the hearing was for only 6 out of 85 cases, the charges against them were under three laws (Criminal Panel Code, Terrorism Combating Act, Weapon and Ammunition Act ), mostly it will lead to death sentence. It is worth noting that most of the detainees are civilians and has nothing to do with war and weapons. A second hearing was held on 21st of May, interestingly, during this hearing the court discovered that one of the detainees was not absent; lately it was known that he had been held in Elrosearis - Blue Nile State by the prosecutor, which is totally against the Criminal Procedure Act in Sudan. The defense consisted of Sudanese Association for defending rights and freedom corporate with Nuba Mountains Bar Association, the defense group headed by Advocator Mr. Altegani Hassan. • Kadugli's women in El Obeid prison who have in detention for over six month with no legal action taken went into hunger strike on 13/05/13. On 17 the prison director met them and promised to solve their problem within days, as a result of this 15 of them have ended their strike and 3 continued on the strike; on the 23rd of May the prison director met these 3 women individual and managed to persuade 2 of them to end their strike and the remaining woman (AL-Radiea Suliman Tia) still on hunger strike up to date. • The killing of the chief community leader of Dinka Abeyei had a negative effect on the peaceful coexistence between Missiriya and Dinka tribes in Abeyei. • On 4th May and while attending a graduation ceremony The Sudanese Minister of Guidance and Endowments declared that Sudan should be an Islamic state and rejected the rights of non Muslims. • All those who have been released lost their jobs Appeal III
