Kershola has been regained after defeating the Sudan Revolutionary Front Forces (SRF), whereas the SRF spokesman announced that they
have withdrawn their forces from the city without a fight.
On 25th May Kadugli was hit by RFF with seven (7) shells while they were celebrating the graduation of new militias group; on the day the SRF
attacked Babanousa and Ghebaish cities in South and North Kordofan respectively
Political developments
The breakdown of the negotiations between SPLA,M- N and the Sudanese government in Addis Ababa and the attack of Abu Kershola and Om
Rawaba towns by (SRF) have brought a generalized political tension. The government in Khartoum has declared Ajihad, started mobilizing all
citizens and launched a huge political and military campaign including recruitment of militias. The campaign persuaded almost all political parties
with the exception of the Public Congress Party to ally with the government and criticize RFF for their attack of both towns.
Humanitarian situation
As a result of the above mentioned security collapse there has been a dramatic increase in the number the IDPs in the region. IDPs from Abu
Kershola in El Rahad are estimated at over 20,000. Initially they were given some aid in form food and basic commodities by the government, El
Rahad Commercial Chamber and the local residents. However, later on the government priority has changed towards the military preparedness,
hence military campaign given the highest priority and they have been left with no support. Some of them have been forced to move to El Obeid,
Khartoum and other cities. On the other hand Nuba IDPs are still remained deprived of all services and forcibly evacuated from wherever they
gathered.
.Arrests:
As a result of the latest RFF attacks, the number of arbitrary arrests has increase dramatically. Many members of SPLM-N allover Sudan
especially in Khartoum have been arrested. Nuba groups including those who are not SPLM-N were particularly targeted and mostly the
Christians. This arresting campaign included even the elders.
