HUDO Centre Date: 28th November 2021 No.: H.K/PS/74/021 PRESS STATEMENT TWO FARMERS FOUND DEAD IN UM-DEHAILEEB, SUDAN On 13th and 15th November 2021, two farmers were found dead with gunshot wounds at their farms in Um-Dehaileeb of Gadier locality. The two cases were reported separately to Kologi police but the police did not investigate further. Two farmers were found dead at their different farms on different days. There were only footsteps of the assailants at the crime scene. On 13th November 2021, Mr. Haroun Suliman Komi (36 years old) was found dead at his farm in UmDehaileeb by his fellow farmers. The dead body had gunshot wounds on the head. On 15th November 2021, Mr. Abduelbagi Ali Annad (53 years old) was also found dead at his farm in Um-Dehaileeb by his sons. His body had gunshot wounds on the head. The two cases were filed/ reported separately at Kologi police but no investigations were carried out. Police did not even visit the crime scenes. Um-Dehaileeb is a village in Gadier locality of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains, it is about 30 km north of Kologi (the locality’s capital). HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;  Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate these cases.  The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.  The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias as well as ensure the safety of civilians.
