HUDO Centre Additional information: Mr. Abu-Obeida Sharaf-Eldin (27 years old) is self-employed. Mr. Almutasim-Billah Khaleifa Taha (22 years old) is a university student. He suffers from sickle cell anaemia. The Civilian Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (SOMOUD) headed by Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk (the prime minister during the transitional period). It was formed in February 2025 immediately after dissolving The Sudanese Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (TAGADUM). SOMOUD is a pro-Civilian coalition opposing the Sudanese Armed Force’s vision around the ongoing war. Damazin is the capital of Blue Nile State and Ganees is small town in the same state near Damazin. Since June 2024, the security committee in Blue Nile State established a unit and named it Joint Security Cell (JSC). This unit consists of SAF- MI, GIS, police, SPLA-N (Agar faction) and the militia affiliated to the religion of Islam. Currently, this unit or cell is responsible and leads in the arrest operations (campaign). The JSC unit uses Roseries dam building in Damazin town as a detention centre. This detention centre is managed by SPLA-N (Agar) and the Islamic militia. The detention centre is in a poor situation (congested with more than fifty persons in a room of less than 20 metres square) and they serve detainees with little food and water (one litre per day). Currently some of the detainees have been there for more than five (5) months and others are underage. JSC is responsible for the arrest of many activists in Blue Nile State, for instance: On 1st June 2025, the Joint Security Cell (JSC) soldiers in Roseries arrested Dr. Hassan from his house in Roseries without giving a reason. He was held incommunicado up to his release on 6th June 2025. On 6th April 2025, the JSC in Damazin arrested Mr. Fateh-Elrahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdalla (known as Jagdool AbuMurtada) from his house without giving a reason. He was held incommunicado and tortured up to his release on 30th April 2025. On 19th January 2025, the JSC in Damazin arrested Mr. Jamal-Eldin Mohammed Ali Ibrahim (commonly known as Jamal Wad Elradya). They arrested him from his house without giving a reason. They released him on 6th March 2025 after holding him incommunicado at JSC custody at Roseries dam building in Damazin town.
