HUDO Centre Date: 15th November 2022 No.: H.K/PS/50/022 PRESS STATEMENT ARMED PEOPLE SHOT AND INJURED A FARMER NEAR KHOR-ELDELEIB, SUDAN On 1stNovember 2022, armed people shot and injured Mr. Elnour Osman Madeki while he was at his farm in near Khor-Eldeleib. The case was reported to Khor-Eldeleib police but, there was no response or investigation. On 1st November 2022, three unknown armed people shot and injured Mr. Elnour Osman Madeki at his farm in Elghareeq village near Khor-Eldeleib. Mr. Madeki had just come from his home in KhorEldeleib to his farm in Elghareeq village where he found the assailants. The attackers shot him intensively before they ran away. The other farmers ran to the scene after hearing the gunshots only to find Mr. Madeki injured in the pelvis where one of the bullets had entered. They rushed him to Khor-Eldeleib health centre where he received first aid and thereafter, he was transferred by his family members to Elobeid hospital for further treatment. This case was reported by the victim’s family at Khor-Eldeleib police but, the police did not carry out investigations. Mr. Elnour Osman Madeki (46 years old) is a farmer from Kawaleib tribe/ Nuba and resident of KhorEldeleib. Khor-Eldeleib is a small town in Abu-Kershola locality of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. Elghareeq village is about 5 km northeast Khor-Eldeleib town. Elobeid is the capital city of North Kordufan State and it’s about 150 km North of Khor-Eldeleib. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;  Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case.  The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.  The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and safeguard the civilians.
