HUDO Centre Date: 8th March 2021 No.: H.K/PS/17/021 PRESS STATEMENT FARMER MURDERED BY UNKNOWN PEOPLE IN EL RAHMANIA, SUDAN On 4th March 2021, Mr. Ahmed Eldouma was shot dead by unknown people near El Rahmania. This case was filed against anonymous at El Rahmania police post but there is no further investigation. On 4thMarch 2021, Mr. Ahmed Eldouma together with his brother Mr. Hassan Eldouma were at UmLubia forest near their village of El Rahmania harvesting honey. Suddenly, unknown people shot at them, as a result, Mr. Ahmed who was shot in the chest died instantly. His brother (Hassan) survived and fled to the village. Mr. Hassan with some relatives and the general public took the dead body of Ahmed back to their village where he was buried and case was filed/ reported at El Rahmania police post but, no further investigation was done. The victim Mr. Ahmed Eldouma (47 years old) is known by nickname Jedo and he is a farmer (honey collector). El Rahmania is a village in Abu-Jibaiha locality of Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State. Its location is about 25 km West of Abu-Jibaiha town. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;  Sudan government to hold El Rahmania police accountable for the misconduct.  Sudan government to address the state of insecurity in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains.  Sudan government to ensure that the safety of civilians in conflict areas is guaranteed  Sudan government to dissolve government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
