HUDO Centre Date: 19th October 2022 No.: H.K/PS/48/022 PRESS STATEMENT ROBBERS KILLED AND INJURED FAMILY MEMBERS IN ABU-JUBAIHA, SUDAN On 19th September 2022, armed robbers shot dead Mr. Mohammed Eisa and injured his father and son as well as looted their belongings. The incident happened along the road near AbuJibaiha. This case was reported to Abu-Jibaiha police but there was no further investigation. On 19th September 2022, Mr. Mohammed Eisa Mohammed (38 years old) together with his father, two brothers and son were coming from El-Btaira weekly market in Abu-Jibaiha locality. They were obstructed and shot at by five armed and masked people along the road at Katherat seasonal river. As a result, Mohammed who was shot in the chest died instantly and his father Mr. Eisa (62 years old) sustained a fracture on the leg. The underage son of the deceased named Ahmed (12 years old) was stabbed/ cut (superficially).The robbers took away the victims’ smart phones and money. The deceased and the two injured victims were taken by other two family members to Abu-Jibaiha hospital for medical attention. The dead body was buried after postmortem examination. The family members also reported the case to police at Abu-Jibaiha but, police did not take any measures to investigate the case. Abu-Jibaiha town is the capital of Abu-Jibaiha locality in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. ElBtaira is located in Abu-Jibaiha locality (about 50 km) Northeast Abu-Jibaiha town. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the insecurity and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;  Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case.  The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.  The security committee in South Kordufan State to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the safety of civilians.
