HUDO Centre Date: 9th January 2024 No.: H.K/PS/01/024 PRESS STATEMENT SAF ARRESTED FOUR PEOPLE (YOUTH) IN TALODI, SUDAN On 22nd December 2023, the Sudan Armed Force (SAF) arrested four (4) young men from Talodi market accusing them of supporting RSF. The detainees were held incommunicado at Talodi military garrison for five (5) days and then released without any formal charges. On 22nd December 2023, seven (7) armed soldiers from Sudan Armed Force (SAF) came on a military vehicle and arrested four (4) young men from Talodi market. The arrested youth were discussing the state of affairs in Medani town which was recently over-run by the Rapid Support Force (RSF). They were at Tabarak pharmacy in Talodi market discussing while watching a video on social media that showed RSF capturing the SAF garrison in Medani. As they discussed, some SAF officers were nearby listening to the conversation. The names of the arrested youth; Mr. Telal (30 years) staff of Tabarak pharmacy, Mr. Abdelmajeed Alkabour (34 years), Mr. Jebreil Shalal Telefone (32 years) and Mr. Saddam Abaker Mahmoud (27 years), the three others are self-employed. SAF released them without any condition or been interrogated, firstly Mr. Abdelmakeed Alkabour was released on 26th December 2023 and later the other three (3) detainees on 27th December 2023. Talodi town is the capital of Talodi locality in South Kordufan state/ Nuba Mountains. Medani is the capital of Aljazeera State. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following:  The Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in Talodi to immediately and unconditionally release any other civilians that could be under their detention.  The commander of SAF in South Kordufan state/ Nuba Mountains to investigate the circumstances that led to the arrest of those youth and make the findings public.  The Sudanese Armed Forces to stop the arrest of civilians.
