HUDO Centre Date: 15th May 2025 No: H.K/UA/06/025 URGENT APPEAL THE ARREST OF MR. AHMED EL-BUKHARI BY GIS IN ABUJIBAIHA, SUDAN On 30th April 2025, General Intelligence Service (GIS) soldiers arrested Mr. Ahmed El-bukhari from his workplace (in Abu-Jibaiha market) and took him to their detention. Since then, he has been held incommunicado and subjected to torture. He was arrested because of the article he had published on his Facebook page. On 30th April 2025, General Intelligence Service (GIS) soldiers came with a vehicle and arrested Mr. Ahmed Mohamed El-bukhari from his workplace (internet café-Star link) in Abu-Jibaiha market. He was taken to GIS detention centre in Abu-Jibaiha where access is restricted. His family members and lawyers are not allowed to visit him. Mr. Ahmed El-bukhari was arrested because of his article that he had shared (posted) on his Facebook page. In the article, he was criticizing and opposing the statement “glory to the gun, not to the (tyres)" which was made by Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan the commander-in-Chief of SAF and head of the sovereign council in Sudan. HUDO centre received reliable information that Mr. Elbukhari is being subjected to torture. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF. HUDO Centre calls for the following:  The General Intelligence Service (GIS) in Abu-Jibaiha to unconditionally release Mr. El-bukhari and others that could be in detention or take him/ them to the courts of law.  The head of the security committee in South Kordufan State (the governor) to investigate the circumstance behind this arrest and make the findings public.  The GIS to stop targeting and arresting civilians arbitrarily.  Sudan government to respect the constitutional rights of citizens (freedom of speech).
