HUDO Centre Date: 22nd March 2025 No.: H.K/PS/10/025 PRESS STATEMENT MURDER OF MR. SALAH BY UNKNOWN PERPETRATOR IN AMBEIR, SUDAN On 4th March 2025, the dead body of Mr. Salah M. Edris was found near Ambeir village and the killer is unknown as well as his motivation. The case was reported to Elfaid Um-Abdalla police but, the police did not respond. On 4th March 2025 around 5:00PM (Sudan local time), gum harvest workers found the dead body of Mr. Salah Mohammed Edris near Ambeir village. The workers took the dead body to his relatives in the village (Ambeir) and thereafter, together with the relatives they took it to the nearest town (Elfaid UmAbdalla) where there is a hospital and police office. The medical report indicated that, the cause of death was stabbing wounds which were inflicted on the deceased chest by sharp objects. Thereafter, relatives reported the murder case against anonymous at Elfaid Um-Abdalla police office. But police did not conduct investigations to disclose the perpetrators. Mr. Salah Mohammed Edris was 47 years old, farmer from Tagoe tribe/ Nuba. Ambeir and Elfaid UmAbdalla are small towns in Abu Kershola locality of South Kordufan state/ Nuba Mountains. The distance between Ambeir and Elfaid Um-Abdalla is about 8 km. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of civilians in Sudan during this difficult period of fighting between SAF and RSF and calls for the following;  The security committee in Abu-Kershola locality to protect civilians and their property.  The prosecutor in South Kordufan state/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.  The police in Abu-Kershola locality to conduct their duties responsibly and investigate this case.  The security committee in South Kordufan state/ Nuba Mountains to investigate the ongoing incidents and failure of police to conduct their duties.
