HUDO Centre Date: 12th October 2021 No.: H.K/PS/57/021 PRESS STATEMENT TWO CHILDREN KILLED IN DALAMI LOCALITY, SUDAN On 9th October 2021, two children were shot dead near Alhadra village of Dalami locality while they were looking after a flock of sheep. The child who survived the shooting has informed residents how the fellows were killed by six nomads who came on camels. The case was reported against anonymous at Alhadra police post but, there was no response. On 9th October 2021, two children were shot and killed by six (6) men who were riding camels. Elnaier Elzain Ramadan (9 years old) and Hamad Ahmed Hamad (11 years old) were shot in the chest and abdomen near Alhadra village as they attended to their families’ sheep (flock) together with another child who survived. It’s the survived child that informed the village residents about the incident. He said that his fellow children were killed by six nomad men who were on camels. The residents reported the case at Alhadra police post and the bodies of the two children were taken and buried by them. Residents tried to follow the footsteps of the camels but they could not catch them. One of Alhadra residents informed HUDO Centre that; due to this incident, the tensions are high and that most residents are now hostile towards the nomads in all Dalami locality. Alhadra is a village in Dalami locality of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains, in a distance of about 50 km west Dalami town and about 30 km south Habilla town of the neighbouring locality/ Habilla. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;     Sudan government to urgently address the causes of insecurity in Nuba Mountains. Sudan government to ensure that police executes their duties responsibly by observing the rule of law. Sudan government to dissolve the government militias and disarm people with unlicensed firearms.
