HUDO Centre Date: 9th November 2021 No.: H.K/PS/65/021 PRESS STATEMENT MILITIA KILLED, ASSAULTED AND ROBBED PEOPLES NEAR KOLOGI, SUDAN On 1st and 2nd November 2021, three (3) people were killed and many others were assaulted and robbed by militia near Kologi. Cases were filed against anonymous at Kologi police, but no further investigation was carried out. On 1st November 2021 around midday, people were traveling from Alregaila to Kologi town (of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains) to attend the weekly market. About half the distant (4km) to reach Kologi, they met a group of armed people dressed mostly in Rapid Support Force (RSF) uniform riding motorbikes (about 15 motorbikes). The RSF group shot and killed three (3) people walking together and killed them as they passed. The killed people are; Mr. Ahmed Abdalla Al-Luka (46 years old), Mr. Mohammed Abdalla Wagea (25 years old) and Mr. Musa Elfahal (55 years old). On 2nd November 2021, armed people dressed in RSF uniform obstructed the road, beat (assaulted) and robbed a group of people of their smart phones and money as they travelled to Alregaila (about 8 km southwest Kologi town) for the mourning of the people killed on 1 st Nov 2021. The assaulted civilians were in the company of community leaders/ Ommdas (Mr. yahya Elsheikh and Mr. Abdalla Al-Luka) from Kologi. The two cases were reported at Kologi police but no further steps were taken. A reliable source informed HUDO Centre that, the nomads of Hawazma (mostly Dar Ali) who have a conflict with tribes of Kenana, Kawahla and others located last month in Gardood Toro (closer to Kologi) organized and formed armed militia named as Nusra Front for Justice and Development. The militia is headed by SAF officer allied to the former regime. They are equipped with advance weapon (like machine guns) and they dress in RSF and PDF uniform. Presently, they disturb travellers from Talodi and Aleri localities and we believe the two incidents were committed by them. HUDO is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;   The police to execute their duties responsibly and to apprehend the perpetrators. The national, international organizations and UN agencies to pay attention to the conflict areas especially during this time of the military coup.
