HUDO Centre Date: 22nd April 2022 No.: H.K/PS/24/022 PRESS STATEMENT CIVILIAN KILLED AND CATTLE LOOTED BY RSF IN JABAROUNA, SUDAN On 14th April 2022, armed group of RSF soldiers looted cattle, killed one person and injured another in Jabarouna village. The residents managed to get back the cattle with no help from the police yet, the case was reported to police. On 14th April 2022 around 21:00 (Sudan time), Jabarouna village was attacked by a group of about thirty (30) armed people dressed in Rapid Support Force (RSF) uniform with motorbikes. They shot randomly and looted cattle (cows) from the village and escaped by Northwest of the village. As a result, one person (Mr. Maalla Ahmed Abdalla, 50 years old) died due to chest injuries (bullet wounds) and Mr. Abduelbagi Abduelraheem (35 years old) sustained injuries on his right arm (currently getting treatment at Abu-Jibaiha hospital). The Jabarouna residents (the cattle owners) informed police, organized themselves and followed the direction used by the attackers and managed to get back their cattle. The attackers ran away when they recognized that they were pursued by the residents. The police did not intervene at all and wasn’t conducted any investigations. Jabarouna village is located on the west border of Abu-Jibaiha town (the capital of Abu-Jibaiha locality) in Nuba Mountains/ South Kordufan State. HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;  Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case.  The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.  The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the safety of civilians.
