HUDO Centre Date: 31st March 2023 No.: H.K/PS/12/023 PRESS STATEMENT (For immediate release) UNIDENTIFIED ASSAILANT SHOT A TAILOR IN KADOGLI, SUDAN On 23rd February 2023, unknown person for unknown reason shot and injured Mr. Altaher Mohyeldin on his neck while he was working (running his sewing machine) in front of his house in Kadogli. This case was reported to the police but no action was taken. On 23rd February 2023 during the day, unknown person shot and injured Mr. Altaher Mohyeldin from the back of his neck while he was working on his sewing machine infront of his house in Kalimo East neighborhood of Kadogli. The reason behind the attack has remained unknown. The victim’s family members rushed him to Kadogli Hospital for treatment but the medical staff did not succeed in removing the bullet from his neck. They referred/ transferred him to Khartoum for further treatment. In Khartoum, he was operated (surgery) and the bullet was removed. The case was reported to Kadogli central police station but there was no effective response. Mr. Altaher Mohyeldin (53 years old) is a retired soldier, currently he is working as a tailor from his home in Kalimo East neighborhood in Kadogli town, the capital of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. HUDO Centre is concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon:  Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to carry out their duties responsibly and investigate this case.  The police and the entire security forces to thoroughly do their duty of protecting life and property.
