The team consisted of 75 people including five(5) consultants/Doctors, ten (10) lab
technicians, five(5) medical practitioners, ten(10) medical students(in their 5th and 6th
years of study) among others with the assortment of drugs. They were not allowed to go
beyond the check point and they stayed there for the whole night.
In the morning of 27th Nov 2015 at 9:00AM, NISS officers ordered them to return (go
back) to Khartoum. The reason NISS gave for denying them access to IDPs was that
the NGO did not inform them (NISS) before their departure from Khartoum.
NOTE; The managers of the NGO however indicate that, they had made prior
arrangements with the concerned ministries of Health and Humanitarian Affairs before
coming to Damazin.
3.0 Recommendation
Demand an immediate end to forced displacement of people from their villages.
Stop the human rights violations and abuses by the fighting groups.
Urge the Government of Sudan to allow humanitarian organizations to access
the affected civilians in SK and BN states.
The unconditional release of all people who are detained without any legal
ground and guarantee fair trials for those who are charged.
Establish an independent inquiry to investigate the violations and abuses
committed in SK and BN states since June 2011.
Urge the Sudanese civil society to actively engage in human rights advocacy.
