HUDO Centre Date: 10th August 2025 No: H.K/PS/28/025 PRESS STATEMENT SUMMONING OF MANY ACTIVISTS BY GIS IN DAMAZIN, SUDAN Between 20th July and 6th August 2025, the General Intelligence Service (GIS) summoned more than twenty activists in Damazin, interrogated and intimidated them. This was after the establishment of the National Forces Coalition and signing of its charter. On 20th July 2025, the General Intelligence Service (GIS) in Damazin summoned the following people to their office; Dr. Ibrahim Aamir (43 years) a governmental employee, Mr. Bakri Abdelbasit (54 years) self-employed, Saleh Jonny (42 years) self-employed and Yousif. They were interrogated about their signatures which appeared on the National Forces Alliance (NFA) / Blue Nile. They were released the same day evening. On 22nd July 2025, Ms. Ekhlas Adam Elhassan (42 years) an employee at the Health Ministry and Ms. Nuha Suliman Azroun (34 years) a teacher, were summoned by GIS. The two were interrogated for nine hours while at the GIS office and then released the same day evening. On 6th August 2025, the GIS summoned thirteen (13) activists and politicians. They were interrogated about their affiliations and signing of the NFA charter. The activists were then transferred to the central police office in Damazin in preparation of detaining them for three months (according to the emergency law in Blue Nile State). However, the members of the public gathered and demonstrated in front the police office. The community leaders also intervened which led to their release. Mr. Yousif Abdelkareem
