Some of Missiriya also began rising their concerns against the government because of domination from certain sub-tribe to all new state's government
positions.
Generally the promise of the new state has created a serious tension among Nuba and Arab groups, on the other hand between Arab groups themselves,
which means that it will lead to a tribal conflict. It is clear the government's goal in the promises of new state was to create more tensions and fuel the
ethnic strife between different ethnic groups in the region, after its failure to end the conflict politically or militarily.
Since early last October, the government began (aggressively) distributing weapons to Missiriya. This process was fully supervised by the Higlig 0il
protection garrison commander the brigade / Kamal Abdel-Marouf. This gives the implication that the promise for the new state was a plan to encourage
the Missiriya group to get more involved in government proxy war in the region. This has led to a counter mobilization inside Missiriya group led by
some intellectuals which also resulted into assassination attempt against the Brigade / Kamal Abdel-Marouf by a young Missiriya man during the
process of distribution of weapons, after the inadvertent conversation with them when they received weapons and declared their refusal to participate in
the war. This led the Missiriya area to be more closer to the opposition camp than before. The joining of Hashim Nimir(member of the prominent Nimir
family) to the ranks of the Sudanese People's Liberation Army (SPLA) may lead to a change the shape of the conflict.
Humanitarian Situation
The forced displacement occurred as a result of the governmental evacuation order (May 2012), the militia's attacks in Sug-Eljabel villages (July-2012) and the
war between government forces and the SPLA (Aug-2012) in the area of Moreib and Tassai. People were forced to flee to towns of Al Abbasiya and Rashad.
Later because of government's refusal to set up IDP camps, people were forced for the second time to flee to the northern part of Al Abbasiya locality joining
those that had fled there before them, and all gathered creating a camp in Sept-2012. This very camp grew bigger and bigger in size regardless of challenges
from government like;
o Denying them food and blocking food supply from other sympathizers.
o Arresting, raping and abducting some of the camp dwellers.
o General insecurity.
The IDP camps mentioned above are;
Al-mashaggah Camp, populated by 650 families.
Um Marreh village Camp, populated by 500 families.
Mabsut village Camp, populated by 480 families.
Gurdud Nyama, populated by 70 families.
IDPs in Wakara, 60 families settled within.
IDPs in Tabassa, 45 families located within.
NB; For further information about camps, read HUDO report. Situation of South Kordufan IDPs (Part 1)
Arbitrary Arrests
As mentioned above, this kind of arrests have been going on and the security forces have continuously targeted the Nuba people wherever they are, regardless
of gender or age. They have detention centres all over Sudan. Currently, HUDO is carrying out an extensive exercise of identifying all detainees in various
detention centres . So far, the names indicated table below( pages I to IX ) has detailed information about some of the detainees. The process is still going on.
