HUDO Centre Date: 5th September 2023 No.: H.K/PS/29/023 UPDATE (3) ON THE ARREST OF MR. MOWAFAG SUBAHI BY SAF IN TALODI, SUDAN On 31st August 2023, Mr. Mwafag Subahi was released under conditions by SAF in Abu-Jibaiha. SAF had detained him incommunicado for more than two months. He was accused of being an active member of SPLM-N. On 24thJune 2023, Mr. Mowafag Kamal-aldin Muhammad Ali Subahi was brutally (beaten) arrested by eight (8) SAF soldiers. He was detained (held) incommunicado while being tortured at Talodi military base. On 14th July 2023, Mr. Mwafag was deported by SAF from Talodi to Abu-Jibaiha military base without informing his family. On 31st August Mr. Mowafag was released under condition that he should not go back Talodi town ever. During his detention in Talodi and Abu-Jibaiha military base he was tortured by beating him regularly, electrical shocks and tying with ropes for days. All this happened because they accused him to be a member of SPLM-N and suspected that he had visited the SPLA-N controlled territory. Talodi is the capital of Talodi locality and Abu-Jibaiha is the capital of Abu-Jibaiha locality in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. The distance between the two towns is about one hundred kilometres. HUDO Centre is concerned about the safety of the civilians in Sudan during this difficult time of SAF and RSF fight (conflict) and calls for the following;  The Sudan Armed Force in Talodi/ Abu-Jibaiha to immediately cancel conditions that they had tagged on Mr. Mowafag release  Sudan Armed Force to respect the constitutional of Mr. Mowafag.  The SAF commander in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to investigate the circumstances of Mr. Muwafag's arrest, torture and make the findingss public.  Sudan Armed Force to stop arresting civilians arbitrarily.
