The same day (evening hours), Mr. Suliman was released after being threatened that he will be arrested and tortured if he expresses any kind of association with Sudan People Liberation Army – North (SPLA-N). 2.1.3 Arrest of Mr. Elsafi Eldegain by SAF in Aleri Ghareib On the night of 11thApril 2020 around 08:30 PM, eight (8) armed soldiers of SAF to the house of Mr. Elsafi Eldegain (42 years old) the farmer based in Aleri Ghareib/ Aleri West town and arrested him without giving a reason. They took him to their base in the town where he spent the night. The following day (12 th April 2020), Mr. Elsafi was transferred to Talodi military base. He was denied visitors including family and lawyers. Mr. Elsafi had been held incommunicado until on 10th June 2020 when he was allowed once to communicate (via phone) with his family. That is when it was discovered that he had been transferred to Kadogli. He was released in August 2020, after months of physical and psychological torture. The interrogation with him was related to his past political activities when he was a member of Sudan People Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N). 2.1.4 Detention of peaceful demonstrators by SAF in Abu-Jibaiha On 23rd September 2020, residents of Abu-Jibaiha launched a public demonstration in support of the peace framework agreement signed in Addis Ababa by Sudan prime minster/ Abdalla Hamdouk and Sudan People Liberation Army – North (SPLA-N) chairperson/ Abduelaziz Elhelu. SAF soldiers came on nine (9) vehicles and obstructed the demonstration march and randomly arrested thirty one (31) people and took them to Abu-Jibaiha military base. The demonstrators followed them up to the gate of the military base and demanded for the release of the arrested people. After waiting for six hours, the detained people were released.
